Women Helping Women

How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world. ~Anne Frank

“It's about women helping women and women doing things together and supporting each other.” ~ Diana Burch

“I'm trying very hard to understand this generation. They have adjusted the timetable for childbearing so that menopause and teaching a sixteen-year-old how to drive a car will occur in the same week.”~ Erma Bombeck

"I’m hot, I’m cold, I’m hot, I’m cold, I’m hot, I’m hot, I’m hot!" ~ Menopause Momma

"All the strength you need to achieve anything is within you. Don't wait for a light to appear at the end of the tunnel. Stride down and light the bloody thing yourself". Sarah Henderson (Australian cattle woman) when interviewed about aging.

Meno Facts

Menopause Fact 1. By the year 2030, 1.2 billion women in the world are expected to be age 50 and older.

Menopause Fact 2. Before they turn 50, women have three times less risk of heart attacks than men. Ten years after menopause, when women are about 60, their heart attack risks increase to equal men's risks. Women can protect themselves against heart disease by not smoking, eating a healthy diet and getting regular exercise.

Menopause Fact 3. Osteoporosis — a disease in which bones become thin, brittle and more likely to fracture — will affect one in four women after menopause.

Menopause Fact 4. In a 1998 Gallup survey sponsored by the North American Menopause Society, more than half (51 percent) of American women between the ages 50 and 65 who had reached menopause said they are happiest and most fulfilled now, as compared to when they were in their 20s (10 percent), 30s (17 percent) or 40s (16 percent).

Menopause Fact 5. The same Gallup poll revealed that 16 percent of women surveyed said their sexual relationship had gotten better since menopause, while 17 percent said it had gotten worse and more than half (51 percent) said it had remained unchanged.

Menopause Fact 6. Most women in the 1998 Gallup poll said they discussed menopause with a friend or someone from their own generation, compared to a smaller percentage who said they discussed it with someone from their mother's or daughter's generation.

Why We Do What We Do

There are several reasons for the existence of this website. We are a fast growing group of women, who have experienced hormone imbalance and found safe alternative answers. We know what you are going through. We've each felt at times that we were alone in our own misery, that our Dr.s didn't understand us, or if they did, they seldom cared enough to listen to the details we shared with them about each of our specific symptoms.

Each of us has a personal story of our own to share, we have connected in heart and mind, linked arms with one another and made it our joint mission to share the good news of alternative hormone replacement therapy.

I learned about a "bio-identical hormone" called natural progesterone, but trying to find answers to a thousand important questions was daunting. It took me nearly 3 years of research, to collect enough information on this subject to decide it was for me. Most of the material I found was spoken in medical language I struggled to understand. Enter, Dr. John Lee, author of *What Your Dr. May Not Tell You About Menopause*, *What Your Dr. May Not Tell You About Pre-Menopause*, *What Your Dr. May Not Tell You About Breast Cancer* and *Hormone Balance Made Simple* The information I learned in these books changed my life. After reading through them, and learning that my body was crying out for progesterone, I started supplementing with this marvelous hormone. I also began to share some of my research findings with friends and family members, neighbors and any woman who would lend me an ear, and here we are today.... a group of women who call ourselves, Women For Balance.

Our guests here at Women For Balance, will learn:

  • How a woman finds herself in a state of estrogen dominance.
  • How estrogen dominance tampers with and interferes with her life.
  • How the environment contributes to estrogen dominance.
  • What she can do to help herself through this natural, normal phase of life called menopause.
  • How she can help her daughters/granddaughters get and keep their hormones balanced.
  • And much more…

It is our sincere prayer and hope that this website be a blessing to those who visit here. We want you to know that you are not alone in your journey. We encourage every woman we meet to empower herself with information. Arm yourselves with knowledge. Ask intelligent questions when you go in to visit your Dr.S. Understand what you are nodding your head to when you accept prescription drug therapies, recommended by your Dr.S.

We invite you to share in what we've learned, join us as we move forward, making a difference, one woman at a time.

Let the learning begin!

In health and happiness~
