King of Fruits Reigns Supreme in Neways’ Latest Supplement
SPRINGVILLE, Utah—January 24, 2007—Visiting Neways distributors from Japan were given a special treat today—the first look at Neways’ Durian Fusion. Durian Fusion, the first ever premium fruit-based liquid supplement made from durian, will hit the market this April.
“Fruit-based liquid supplements are all the rage,” says Neways CEO Eric Larsen. “Neways will be first to market a durian liquid supplement.”
Durian, a fruit native to Southeast Asia, is distinctive for its size, unique odor and thorn-covered husk. It has a long and varied history as a natural remedy in Southeast Asian folklore.
“We are the first to harness the power of the King of Fruits in a liquid supplement,” says Scott Moberly, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “We have spent three years developing a great-tasting product without durian’s distinctive aroma, and we are very proud of the results.”
Neways’ Durian Fusion, made from durian whole-fruit puree and extract, along with a blend of exotic fruits including papaya, mango, lychee and longan, is the first ever premium liquid supplement made from durian, the King of Fruits. “This fruit-based formula provides you with all the wholesome goodness of durian in a delicious, exotic liquid supplement,” says Yoko Little, Senior Category Manager for Health and Wellness. “This product can energize your life.”
Durian Fusion contains the goodness of an exotic fruit blend whose fusion is brought to its fullest potential by people who care about you and your health. Nature creates it, science refines it, and Neways delivers it.
Durian contains very high levels of Organosulfur Compounds and Tryptophan.
If you Google each one here are some of the information and studies you will find Health benefits of Organosulfur Compounds:
Decrease the synthesis of cholesterol by hepatcytes (liver cells).
- Inhibit platelet aggregation which is one of the first steps in the formation of blood clots that occlude coronary or cerebral arteries, leading to heart attack or stroke.
- Anti-inflammatory activity – inflammation plays an important role in the pathology of cardiovascular disease. Organosulfur compounds have been found to inhibit the activity of the inflammatory enzymes, cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase. More recently organosulfur compounds have been found to decrease the production of inflammatory signaling molecules in cultured macrophages and human whole blood.
- Antioxidant Activity – organosulfur compounds have been found to have antioxidant activity and can stimulate the synthesis of glutathione, an important intracellular antioxidant.
- Antimicrobial, antibacterial and antifungal activity.
- Enhances beautiful complexion, mineralized hair, and glowing skin. No soreness in any muscles after vigorous exercise and better brain function.
- Sulfur is a component of insulin, which is the hormone that allows the uptake of glucose within cells for energy. Sulfur functions along with thiamine and biotin in a normal sugar metabolism. Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) is associated with a deficiency of sulfur at some level. Sulfur is effective in regulating blood sugar imbalances (hypoglycemia/diabetes).
By making the cells more permeable, more blood sugar is absorbed by the cells.
- Sulfur has been shown to reverse arthritic conditions by improving joint flexibility, reducing stiffness, reducing inflammation, reducing arthritic pain, and by breaking up scar tissue.
Tryptophan (L-Tryptophan) is used for treating:
- Depression
- Suicidal Depression
- Anxiety
- Insomnia
- Aggression
- Appetite (to curb the appetite)
- Pain
- Migraines
- Premenstrual Syndrome
- Bulimia
- Parkinsons's Disease
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
- Nightmares
- Stress
March, 2007, Neways officially launched Durian Fusion TM at the North America NOW convention in March and distributors were given an exclusive preview and taste of the new product and the opportunity to purchase Durian Fusion before it is available anywhere else. "It is absolutely delicious, everyone loved it!" |
Are You Ready?
Step into the lush, tropical jungles of Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, and enter the world of the King of Fruits. The durian has been grown and harvested here for centuries, sustaining generation after generation with the unique, whole-food phytonutrient support it provides.
You may find the durian threatening at first - large, spiky medieval weapon of fruit - but slice along the seams in its thick skin and you'll discover the nourishing richness it hides inside: a richness that is a staple of life in this fertile land.
Legends from Thailand tell how the durian was once the most beautiful, fragrant, and delicious of all fruits. An old, wise hermit brought its seed to the king. But the king did not properly thank the hermit. In anger, the hermit cursed the durian tree, and the fruit grew ugly thorns and began to emit a foul stench. But its heavenly taste and magical powers remained.
After three years and thousands of hours of research and development, Neways has tamed the durian and produced the perfect blend of science and nature: a delicious, innovative whole-fruit juice drink with superior taste and unprecedented phytonutrient benefits.
For the first time, the durian is ready to go to the whole world. Neways has put the perfect opportunity in your hands: a brand new, utterly original juice supplement; a fascinating story; a host of astonishing health benefits; and a market eager to experience all the secrets of the King of Fruits. With Durian Fusion, you hold the potential to create success like you’ve never imagined before.
The Durian Legend states that
1. In Thailand centuries ago…
2. In his old age, a wise, old king took a young bride, but she did not love him
3. A mystical hermit offered to help the king telling him that a potion could be made from three rare ingredients: an egg of the black tabon bird, 12 ladles of milk from a pure white buffalo, and a flower from the Tree of Vision
4. The hermit mixed the ingredients and told the king to plant it in the palace garden
5. From the mixture sprang a glorious durian tree, whose sweet, delicious fruit changed the queen.
6. The queen say the king as young and handsome. She now loved him.
7. The king held a royal feast to celebrate, but he neglected to invite the old hermit
8. Angry, the hermit cast a spell to curse the durian. Its sweet smell became rancid, and its smooth, delicate skin grew piercing spikes
9. The princess never at the fruit again. She stopped loving the king.
Today, now you can experience durian as the old king and his young bride once did – now with a fruity-sweet aroma, a delicious taste, and without the spikes. Some of the ingredients: Durian, Mango, Papapaya, Lychee and Longan.

Nature of Durian
Local / Malay name : Durian.
Scientific name : Durio zibethinus murr
Background
Durian is a rare fruit with a strong and pungent flavor when ripe. It is high in carbohydrates, phosphorus and ascorbic acid, and is one of the most expensive fruits in ASEAN countries. Durian is eaten fresh as a dessert, processed into candies, preserves and jams, pureed into fillings for rolls, tarts and pies, or used as a flavoring for ice cream. From its originating land, Borneo Island, it has spread throughout Southeast Asia. Particularly in Thailand, durian was named the king of fruit.
Nature of Durian
Durian is the so-called king of fruit because it has bright potential to be economical. But durian flesh yields only 30% of the net fruit weight. Compared with the weight of durian flesh, durian is the most expensive fruit. In fact, durian has an export volume smaller than longan, and has the second largest plantation area next to mangoes.
Durian needs more cultivation effort than other kinds of commercial fruit, due to its weak and sensitive nature. Farmers look after each durian tree differently. Notwithstanding, durian output still varies in taste and pulp color.
Durians are harvested when they reach 90% of the whole, ripe form. An expert is needed to judge when to cut the fruit down. In a single durian tree, each fruit does not mature at the same time. By examining the range of the thorns and the sound of hitting the peel, farmers have to examine each durian one by one.

Environmental Health Perspectives, Sept, 2001 by Franca Bianchini, Harri Vainio
Allium vegetables have been shown to have beneficial effects against several diseases, including cancer. Garlic, onions, leeks, and chives have been reported to protect against stomach and colorectal cancers, although evidence for a protective effect against cancer at other sites, including the breast, is still insufficient. The protective effect appears to be related to the presence of organosulfur compounds and mainly alkyl derivatives, which inhibit carcinogenesis in the forestomach, esophagus, colon, mammary gland, and lung of experimental animals. The exact mechanisms of the cancer-preventive effects are not dear, although several hypotheses have been proposed. Organosulfur compounds modulate the activity of several metabolizing enzymes that activate (cytochrome P450s) or detoxify (glutathione S-transferases) carcinogens and inhibit the formation of DNA adducts in several target tissues. Antiproliferative activity has been described in several tumor cell lines, which is possibly mediated by induction of apoptosis and alterations of the cell cycle. Allium vegetables and organosulfur compounds are thus possible cancer-preventive agents. Clinical trials will be required to define the effective dose that has no toxicity in humans. Key words: Allium, cancer prevention, chemoprevention, garlic, organosulfur compounds, vegetables. Environ Health Perspect 109:893-902 (2001). [Online 16 August 2001]

Organosulfur Compounds as ChemDefense Agents - Mustard
http://www.stormingmedia.us/04/0479/A047904.html
Abstract: Organosulfur compounds have demonstrated protective activity against sulfur mustard (HD), bis(2-chloroethyl) sulfide. Twenty three compounds, many representing new compositions of matter, have been prepared in the first half of this program. These include derivatives of thiavitamin E, glutathione, thiacholesterol, pyridine and benzothiazole. The program has expanded the ability to prepare unsymmetric disulfides of interest and the utility of 2- mercaptobenzothiazole and alkoxycarbonylsulfenyl chlorides in this program. These compounds, largely based upon monothiols, form the platform upon which to develop targets related to BAL and related systems. We currently are awaiting details of bioassay studies |
According to David Wolf's "Eating for Beauty"
"Durian contains high levels of tryptophan. This is an amino acid and a tryptamine (similar to serotonin, melatonin, and DMT). Researchers have discovered that tryptophan helps both anxious, depressed, repressed people, as well as insomniacs. Tryptophan works by raising serotonin levels in the brain. When serotonin levels increase, a euphoric feeling is felt as a free passage is cleared for nerve impulses to travel.
Durian is such a strong blood cleaner that eating a few durian a day can change the odor of urine (urine is filtered out of blood).
What gives durian its strongest beautifying characteristics is its high concentration of raw oleic fats (and vitamin E), sulphur compounds, and soft proteins. Durian actually contains one of the highest concentrations of protein of any fruit, making it an excellent muscle builder." Organic sulfur compounds among other properties in durian are very cleansing for the body.
Durian provides "more concentrated healthful energy in food form than any other product the world affords" - to keep the body vigorous and tireless; the mind alert with faculties undimmed; the spirit youthful.
